Gregory Crosby Las Vegas City Life Review of 2004 BFA show

Started and completed the ambitious project of designing a hand drafted font with graphite on 4 sheets of 24” x 36” vellum
Researched the history of typeface design and read biographies of type designers from Albrecht Durer to Hermann Zapf
Identified the aesthetic principals that my font should follow such as serif or sans serif, x height, composition of characters and how they work against each other, and decided the font should be legible even at a 6 point scale size
Immersed myself in an 8' x 8' studio drafting and erasing for a year until the font was complete
Wrote a thesis focusing on the formal issues pertained to my font design
Displayed final work in Donna Beam Fine Art Gallery
